FC Bayern München are now joint third, behind Real Madrid CF and AC Milan, in the list of the European Cup's most successful clubs after claiming their fifth title at Wembley.
The German team are now behind only Real Madrid CF – the most recent of whose nine triumphs came in 2002 – and AC Milan, who lifted the trophy for a seventh time in 2007, in the overall standings. Bayern are level with Liverpool FC, who claimed their fifth title with a memorable win against Milan two years earlier. Wembley marked the Munich outfit's tenth final, fewer than just Madrid (12) and Milan (11).
